Experience

Mr. Galewski has over 20 years of environmental experience as an environmental consultant to the manufacturing, health care and commercial sectors. His work has focused on air pollution control, wastewater management, and hazardous materials management programs. As a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, he performs environmental compliance audits, develops environmental management programs, conducts pollution prevention studies, prepares air and water permit applications, prepares and conducts employee training and completes annual environmental reporting requirements. His experience with industrial process operations is summarized by the organization and planning of technical services to support the energy management effort of a major industrial consumer, and development and implementation of a utility and process document management program.

Environmental Audits Conducted environmental compliance audits for an outboard engine manufacturer, a crane manufacturer and several health care facilities. These audits were conducted to evaluate the facilities compliance status with environmental regulations. Steve participated in a multi-media compliance audit conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for an industrial manufacturer. For a local brewery, Steve was retained to review the plant's environmental management system prior to a compliance audit performed by corporate.

Environmental Management Program Development Steve has prepared environmental management programs for several metal fabrication facilities. Development of the management program begins with an environmental applicability assessment to determine which environmental regulations are applicable to a facilities operation. The results of this assessment are then incorporated into an environmental management program, which outlines all of the applicable environmental regulations and associated reporting, notification, record keeping, and training requirements.

Air Permitting Project manager on several Title V Operating Permit and construction permit applications for Wisconsin and Indiana facilities. These included an automobile engine assembly plant, two crane manufacturing plants, a gray iron engine block foundry, and several hospitals. The strategy was to prepare well-planned applications with operating flexibility. The work tasks included conducting a facility survey to characterize emission units, calculation of actual and potential pollutant emissions, review of future operating plans, audit of applicable regulations, compliance determination and record-keeping and reporting requirements.

Air Compliance Documentation/Record-keeping A major requirement of the Title V permit program requires facilities to implement programs to demonstrate routine compliance. Steve has developed a record-keeping system for combustion and coating operations to demonstrate compliance with permit conditions and limitations.

Storm Water Pollution Prevention and Wastewater Permitting Project manager for numerous stormwater and wastewater permitting projects. Conducted facility site inspections at locations throughout the country for an industrial client for stormwater permitting and Pollution Prevention Plan development requirements. Provided written technical reports of conditions observed and recommended procedures or controls to reduce pollutants in storm water discharges associated with specific industrial activities.

Utilities Data Management Provided management and technical services to support on-going energy management activities of an industrial client for over eight years. Work involves maintaining a computer based data acquisition system which consists of 250 daily inputs measuring consumption of 8 utility services either purchased, generated or distributed. The output reports and graphics reflect consumption and performance-to-forecast of the various utility services and provides a means for energy management and cost improvement. Aspects of this work also include developing distribution diagrams, metering strategies, installation of metering systems and alternative fuels purchasing.

Industrial Process Document Management This program was initiated to provide adequate documentation and drawings of the many utility services, process operations and equipment specifications to support current operations and to prepare for continued expansion, process safety management and energy deregulation for large breweries.
